About Us

A Happy Mother gives Forth a Happy Community.

Borderless Single Mothers Association BSMA was born from a simple yet powerful belief: No mother Should Walk Alone. Founded by Beatrice Akinyi Opwapo to uplift and empower single mothers across Kenya and beyond, our organization stands as a holistic beacon of hope, resilience, and transformation. .

Beatrice Akinyi - Founder, Exec. Director

Inspired by the lived experiences of countless women navigating motherhood without partners, Borderless Single Mothers Association began as a grassroots initiative to provide emotional, social, and economic support. We recognized that single mothers often face stigma, financial hardship, limited access to education and healthcare and lack advocacy support in legal fields like claiming support from their Exs or remaining families in cases of being widowed.

Our goal is to break these barriers and build bridges—across communities, cultures, and borders. Drawing inspiration from orther organizations like Dada Pamoja in Kenya, which provides basic needs and vocational training to single mothers, and Littleones in Japan, which combats child poverty through education and housing support
